Toni & Guy Texturising Putty

Toni & Guy Texturising Putty This product has the same smell as the rest of the Toni & Guy products I have tested. It has a lovely fresh smell, almost like a fresh smelling aftershave. Smelling it really made me want to use it. Opening the tin, the product is like a soft, white clay substance and immediately I found it so much easier to work with than the previously tested styling stick. Being a soft putty, means it is very pliable between the fingers and it doesn't feel sticky, which I like. I did find that rubbing it between fingers and hands to warm it up a bit made it even more pliable. I have been using the product on my hair which is currently quite short. Approximately a setting 3/4 on the clippers. Whilst the putty let's me style my hair how I want it, it does so without setting to a rock hard finish. Even though it doesn't set hard, it still holds my hair well. However once I let my hair grow to probably a 5/6 clipper length, I think that whilst the initial styling and texturising would be good, I think the hair would lose some style in say a heavy wind, or if ruffled from clothing. I found that I could use the putty to style my hair both wet and dry, which I like. The product is still waterproof to a degree, as I found when trying to wash out, but I was still able to apply it to wet hair. By doing this it dries to a slightly wet look finish. When used to apply to dry hair, the product tends to lend better to texturising shapes into the hair which has no body and doesn't have a wet look. I tend to style my hair when wet as I am always in a rush, and my usual product dries to a harder, wet look. Therefore I found this product slightly different to my usual product as it doesn't dry hard and isn't quite as good at firm hold. However this putty is good at adding body and textured shapes to longer hair, but I think it could then benefit from the addition of a hairspray once textured and styled in order to hold the shape in winds. When washing out the product, I found it needed two washes with normal shampoo. When I used the Toni & Guy shampoo, it still lathered quickly and the putty was washed out better with one wash. When I use my regular shampoo after one wash, I could still feel some of the product left over. I found it more effect to use shampoo dry on the hair and as this seemed to work better at washing out the putty. The product would withstand a rain shower and leave the hair still styled. After application of the product, my hands weren't as sticky as with the Toni & Guy Styling Stick but my styled hair did have a slightly greasy feel to it. Unlike the styling stick though, it is easy to wash the product off hands using soap. In conclusion, I did like the product and would give it a 7/10. It allowed me to style my hair well and held pretty well. For texturising shape and body, particularly to longer hair, it would be very good. However because my style doesn't tend to be this effect, I wouldn't replace my current product. My current product allows my to style my hair wet, and hold short or long hair to a fairly rigid style. Also my normal product brushes out. This putty would suit someone who wanted to add texture and shape, but didn't want a rigid feel. It could perhaps do with being able to offer better hold to longer hair. As with all the range I have tested, the smell is near perfect. Also the product tin is great as it looks clean, modern and expensive, and allows the user easy access to the product, whilst not getting the tin messy.
