When I bought this product my initial thoughts were....it looks like some sort of bread that astronauts would take . It comes vacuum sealed in a double pack and I was struck by how small the loaf and slices looked. They look the same size as french toast and when I took them out of the packet, they are about the same width too. Why the loaf needs to be so small is a mystery because they are pretty much useless to make sandwiches out of. The size of the bread makes it difficult to get any worthwhile filling inside and forget adding salad because it will just fall out. I normally take two rounds of normal sandwich tin style bread to work, but for this bread I would need 3/4 rounds! The trouble then is that I used up most of the loaf for one days sandwiches.
I purposely chose granary loaf rather than the white loaf because my experience with free from loaves in the past has been that they are pretty flavorless and dry. Unfortunately even being granary, there is no flavour in this bread. It is very dry, with almost the consistency of french toast without toasting. To use it for sandwiches you would need a lot of butter or mayonnaise as the bread is just so dry. I also tried it as toast, but again it is very dry, even using loads of butter, which doesn't seem to soak into the bread.
In conclusion, this bread needs to be thicker slices and also the size of a regular 800 gram loaf. The way it is packaged at present is just not very appetizing at all, and the product and price unfortunately does disappoint. The size of the loaf and the small slices just doesn't feel like good value.
